God Sings!

17The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

The Verse above comes from the book of Zephaniah 3. Zephaniah was a prophet that was contemporary with King Josiah. The prophet Zephaniah and King Josiah brought GREAT REVIVAL to Israel because they found the Law of God and read it and decided to obey it. Here the prophet in his short work records the very fame of the name of God....that we serve a mighty God, a quality inherent in the Hebrew "Elohim." We serve a God that will save us from all our iniquities and He is SOO AWESOME, that he not only will save decrepit sinners from their own nature, but He will glorify them as He did His own Son and He will rejoice and take joy in His people. He will joy over us with singing! WE MUST NOT read over that lightly! The God who created this universe will sing in rejoicing! Can you exercise your imagination as to what that would sound like!!! I imagine a MAGNIFICENT raging fire intermingled with an audible coo of a baby girl, a great rumbling from an enraged volcano mixed with a quaint pur from a kitten. I imagine the sound that would ensue from a million warrior men banging on their shields in anticipation of battle interwoven with the sound of water dripping forth from a melting glacier. I imagine the MONSTROUS sound that could be heard if I could fly up to the 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit surface of the brilliant sun 93,000,000 miles away that heats this earth and hear the deafening combustion of chemical reactions and flares, but through the deafening sound I will still be able to hear the almost inaudible sound of snow falling from a tree branch and puffing onto the ground.
HOW GLORIOUS IT MUST BE FOR THE CREATOR OF THIS WORLD TO SING! And even more amazing is it that he sings with joy over us. Have you exercised your meditating imagination when reading the Bible? It will pay off as you wonder with AWE in the GREAT GLORY of our God. It will become addictive! Believe me....How I long to see Him one day...face to face...truly that must be like approaching the sun, for the Psalmist says:

For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
